Frequently Asked Questions.
Do you take insurance?
As a registered associate/LMHCA, I am unable to accept insurance and only take private pay at this time. I can provide a superbill (receipt) upon request for clients wanting to attempt reimbursement for out-of-network services. If this is something you are interested in, please note that there would need to be a diagnosis on file. I recommend checking with your insurance prior to starting counseling to see what your out of network benefits are.
Private Pay Benefits: There are many benefits to paying out of pocket. You have the most control of your privacy and treatment including the duration and length of your visits, flexibility in treatment approaches, privacy of your medical records and PHI information, and choice of therapist.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes! I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients based on financial need. If you have any questions about this, we can discuss them during our consultation.
What are your days of availability?
I provide telehealth counseling services on Thursday & Friday afternoons with evening times available.
How long will it take to see results from counseling sessions with Brave Beginnings Counseling?
The length of time it takes to see results from counseling sessions varies depending on the individual, the issues being addressed, and the goals/needs each individual. Some clients may see improvements after just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term therapy.
What should I expect in my first session?
Your first session usually lasts about 50 to 60 minutes. We will start with some basic paperwork and review consent and confidentiality. Most of the session will focus on getting to know you, including what brought you to therapy, what has been challenging, and what you hope to work on. I will also explain my approach, which integrates trauma-informed and somatic perspectives within a narrative therapy framework, and discuss what therapy looks like in practice. You will have the chance to ask any questions about scheduling, session structure, or anything else on your mind. By the end of the session, you should have a clear sense of how we will work together and whether this feels like a good fit.
Not ready for a full session yet?
I understand how challenging it can be to find the right fit. That is why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to ensure we are a good fit! During our consult, we will discuss what you are hoping to work on in counseling, logistics, and decide together if we would like to move forward with scheduling an intake.
